Today is Day 9 of Navaratri, and we are celebrating Maa Siddhidatri. She is known as the one who gives Siddhis (boons/ powers) to her devotees. It is said that she is the one who gave Lord Shiva all of the Siddhis he has, and also gave the power to Him, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu to create the whole universe and all the living and non living things in it. She is seen with four hands, one holding a conch, one holding a chakra, another holding a Gada and the last one holding a lotus. She is usually seen riding a lion or sitting on a bloomed lotus.
In the material world, these Siddhis may do things like make things bigger, smaller, lighter, heavier, having omnipresence, being worshipped, etc. Of course, having these powers may appeal to many, but I hope you can see it in this way. I hope that when anyone prays to Maa Siddhidatri, that they do not pray to her and misuse the powers she gives, and that they pray so that their hearts may get bigger, and egos smaller. So that they can be one with the void and serve their absolute true purpose.
Maa Siddhidatri doesn’t represent one singular chakra. She’s the culmination of the past 8 days—the 7 chakras and the lesser known Soma Chakra mentioned in yesterday’s post. She’s the merging of all 8 chakras into one light, and that one light merging into the void. There’s no bigger siddhi than that to be given— to be absolved from sins and sorrows, and to be raised to a higher level of consciousness, and to realise The Self.
