It’s day 3 of Navaratri! Today we celebrate Maa Chandraghanta, who in her ugra form is known as Chamundi. Chandraganta Maa has 10 hands, holding a Soolam (trident), Gada (mace), Sword, A Kamandal, Lotus, Arrow, Bow, and two hands in Mudras. She is seen riding a tiger/ lion as her vehicle and has a half crescent moon, shaped like a bell, on her head. Her complexion is described to be golden, and she is seen as the epitome of beauty, charm and grace.
She resides in the third chakra— the Manipura chakra. She establishes justice and gives us courage and stamina to push through challenges. The Manipura chakra is around the stomach region. Realise how when we feel angry, it feels like it’s rising up from the stomach up to your head? How our stomach is where food is digested and is the fire pit of the temple that is our body? This is where a lot of the energy starts heating up and where, in literal sense, food is digested and energy is sent to power your whole body.
Let us all pray to Chandraghanta Maa for the strength, patience and serenity to overcome the difficulties and maya of this Kali Yuga, and ascend into Satya Yuga as a collective.
I’ve referenced a picture of my Amma during one of her programs in the US, for the pose.
I’m doing these drawings Everyday back to back, so they weren’t pre-made hence the late posts, and it doesn’t have as many details as I’d wish to have due to time constraints
Regardless, I feel blessed to be able to do this series and I’m glad that many of you like it and I’m in gratitude for your love and support
